UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

United Methodist Women may be a rather dull-sounding name, but don't let that fool you! It is a vibrant group of mission-minded women whose main interests are those concerning women and children here at home and around the world.

The UMW purpose is: To know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Unit meeting is held the second Wednesday of each month (except May, July, August) at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall when there is a brief business meeting, program and lunch.

At present there are two sub-groups ("circles"), both of which meet during the day. Other groups may be formed for special interests or different times of day. All women are invited to attend any or all of these meetings.

Annual scheduled events are the Spring Tea in May, rummage sale in March and a Christmas Bazaar the first part of November. We usually have a cluster meeting in March when we invite UMW members from Hesperia, Wrightwood and Barstow. Those Units also have cluster meetings to which we are invited. These are very popular events, and everyone enjoys the fellowship.

For more information, please call the church office, (760) 245-7902, to get the telephone numbers of current officers who can give you information regarding meetings.
