"So, what can I expect on a typical Sunday at VVUMC ?" You can expect to experience the most exciting church in the High Desert! God is at work in VVUMC, and most guests can sense it from the moment they walk through the front door!
As you arrive...
As you arrive, you will notice plenty of parking places. Handicapped and those with special needs may park immediately in front of the entrance closest to our Sanctuary in one of our many Handicapped parking spaces.
A warm welcome...
Coming to the front door church you should find a friendly face and warm hand shake welcoming you to our regular Sunday church family gatherings. We have members and regular attenders ready to help you find a seat and answer any questions you might have about our church. Immediately as you come in through the main front doors is our Greeting area.
Genuine, authentic worship...
Regardless of which worship service you choose to attend, the worship time is a time of genuine, open expression of our love for Jesus Christ through song, prayer, drama, testimony, and more. You will sense that at VVUMC you can experience authentic worship... worship that is all about God, and not about us! Worshipers are welcome to sit, stand, clap, not clap, lift hands, not lift hands... all in the spirit of "good order" as Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 14. Our time of worship is encouraging, uplifting, sometimes challenging... but always with the purpose of expressing our love and passion to Christ.
Relevant teaching...
In addition to authentic worship, you will experience relevant instruction based on the ultimate truth... God's own word as recorded in The Bible. But what is different at VVUMC is that the teaching is not just designed to fill our heads with more knowledge... it is God breathed and inspired to give us practical applications that we can use immediately to become better followers of Jesus Christ. We may be just a little biased, but we think God has blessed us with some of the best Pastor/Teacher/Shepherds in the High Desert ! You and your children will also experience a group of talented and dedicated adult volunteers who teach our Sunday School classes.
A "guest friendly" atmosphere...
At VVUMC we do our best to welcome you as you arrive, introduce ourselves, introduce you to others, and do whatever we can to make you feel at home. During the service, the offering is intended for our members and regular attenders... guests should not feel compelled to give in any way... the service is our gift to you. We provide "Hey Bob" notes in the pews that all our members, attenders, and guests may fill out as a means to communicate prayer requests, requests for information, enrollment in classes or ministries... you name it. Please feel comfortable filling one out and dropping it in the offering plate knowing that no one is going to show up on your doorstep at dinner time unexpectedly! We respect your time and your privacy, and will only contact you if requested via the blue card.
Real people...
One of the most important things our guests discover quickly is that VVUMC is a place for real people... we all have the same hurts, habits, and hang ups as everyone else. We know that we are all imperfect people in an imperfect world saved from sure destruction only by the grace of God. At VVUMC we help each other through genuine relationships, by "navigating life together", and through our Cluster Groups. If you are tired of "plastic Christianity", or if you are tired of being beaten down by the world, then VVUMC may be exactly what you've been looking for.
The bottom line...
VVUMC is a family of imperfect people serving a perfect God, navigating life together, and doing everything we can to use the time, talents, and resources on loan from God to spread this "good news" of Jesus Christ to Victorville,, the High Desert, San Bernardino county, southern California, the U.S., and the world... come check us out!
