In 1970, he married his wife Rebecca A. Bachmann, who also graduated from Cal-Lutheran University in 1970. Rebecca is now called "Becca." Together they went to Claremont, California and Bob graduated in 1976 with his doctorate of religion degree from the School of Theology in Claremont.

Their other grandchildren, Kaylie and Cobin Ramirez, live in Victorville, California with their parents Wendy and Albert Ramirez. Wendy is a school psychologist for Hesperia and Albert is a special education instructor for Victor High School District.
Dr. Bob, or The Old Sheepdog as he calls himself, enjoys preaching, Bible study, prayer, and counseling. He calls himself the Sheepdog because of his strong belief that Jesus Christ is more than enough Shepherd for everyone and that his job is to encourage others to grow in their discipleship.
Dr. Bob is also a member of the Adelanto School District SARB A Board and the Advisory Board for High Desert Resource Network and regularly attends Victorville Chamber of Commerce meetings for the church.
Dr. Bob is very thankful that he can have strong community participation both for Victorville and Adelanto. The High Desert Relative Caregivers program opens many doors to use his creative talents. Between the church and the community and family, his life is full and rewarding.
