A Cluster Group is 5 to 12 persons who meet once a week for no more than 75 minutes in order to sharpen and hone each other's discipleship. Clusters are not "sharing groups" per se. Nor are they meant to be group therapy, Bible studies, prayer groups, or work teams.
Cluster participants simply help one another discover the answer to two basic questions: "What does my next level of faithfulness with God look like?" and "What must I do next to go there?" Clusters are meant to be relaxed, confidential, and honest (there's no one to impress but ourselves!) Of course, deep friendships-what the Bible calls koinonia-do grow out of Cluster Groups . That's how it is with God's love.
There is no substitute in life for the primary relationship between the risen Christ and his followers. As Christians our chief focus and desire must center around being with Christ— experiencing Him, abiding with Him, and doing his work.
Christian discipleship is more than a lifestyle choice, it’s a way of life. When we daily seek God’s presence it brings us healing, wholeness, and peace. And more than that, our faith overflows from individual experience into the world around us, bringing “healing and wholeness to the nations.”
At Victorville UMC we’ve found the Cluster Ministry to be an indispensable tool of discipleship . Weekly participation in a Cluster Group is how we experience God, and each other, more deeply. If you want to grow as a disciple of Jesus a Cluster Group is the best place to start.
Our prayer is that you’ll join the many followers of Jesus at Victorville UMC who are perfecting their discipleship in a Cluster Group. We make this commitment with glad and willing hearts, and always as an act of love for our Savior. I hope you’ll make it a point to be in a Cluster this week, and together we’ll deepen our joy as Followers of Christ!
